Opel has announced the introduction of a stop-start package along with its ecoFLEX on the current Astra. The Compact boasts a fuel consumption of 4.5 liters/100 km.

Opel has officially announced the launch of the most economical Astra ever created at Rsselsheim. The German compact received the EcoFlex package and a start-stop system, in order to obtain a low level of consumption and emissions. The environmental package is available with the 2.0 CDTI diesel engine of 160 horsepower, assisted by six-speed manual transmission.

According to the official announcement, all ecoFlex city manages to reduce the consumption by about 13%, meaning somewhere about 0.8 liters per 100 kilometers. The start-stop-system helps a lot the ecoFlex version, and managed to reduce the average consumption from 4.9 to 4.5 litres/100 km.
