With fuel costs reaching alarming levels, increasingly more people would wish to be aware of what are the things affecting and influencing the price increases. Fuel costs may not be set in as a easy manner as just any other item. There are particular components that, when affected can help give rise to fuel prices. Here are these components:

Crude Oil Gasoline comes from crude oil. A bulk of the crude oil supply for the global marketplace is located in the Middle East. This region accounts for about forty percent of the world’s provide of crude oil. And in this region has an established organization known as OPEC (Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries) that sets the price of crude oil produced by their member nations. The OPEC also sets the rate of production at which every member countries should try to come up with periodically so that you can set up a stable sufficient supply based on demand.

Refining Price of crude oil is set on a per barrel basis. One barrel of crude oil contains 42 gallons which is then refined to become gasoline. Each barrel of crude oil then yields approximately 19.6 gallons of gasoline. Remaining yields consist of distillate fuel oil, residual fuel oil, jet fuel, and other items. The refining procedure may also affect the cost from the end item.

The price of oil within the world market is based mainly on demand for it. When there’s an increasing demand for gasoline in many parts of the world, particularly within the United States, crude oil prices tend to go up. The cost of crude oil may also be impacted by political happenings in some main locations of the world. Nearby conflicts especially in various oil producing nations which may have an effect within the world provide of crude oil may also have an effect on its cost.

Distribution and Marketing The distribution procedure that goes with providing the crude oil from suppliers to refineries that make it into fuel down to the retailers who sell it to consumers can have a substantial effect on fuel costs. By average, distribution accounts for about ten percent from the fuel cost. Distribution goes into a long process from crude oil to the end product, which makes it one from the more essential components that have an effect on fuel prices.

The distribution process generally starts from an oil producing country shipping the crude oil to a number of refineries overseas. The refineries then transport the gasoline into a series of pipelines inland that lead to a number of of the main consumer areas. It’s right here that the fuel may also be further blended or refined to match certain local regulations. The finished item may then be delivered to a number of retail outlets where the cost is set according to particular factors such as supply, demand as well as competition.

Taxes Gasoline prices may also be affected by taxes both local and countrywide. The difference within the taxes set for gasoline in different areas account also for other places having cheaper gasoline than in other locations. On average, taxes in general account for about ten percent of the price set for gasoline.

If you think that you will be making a difference in the environment by purchasing a plug-in hybrid car, you may want to give your purchase a bit more thought. Plug-in hybrids do help with the environment, but just because they don’t depend on fuel as much as regular hybrid cars do, doesn’t mean they are extremely beneficial to the environment. Actually, for many reasons, plug-in hybrid cars are not much better than regular hybrid cars when it comes to the green house effect and the ozone layer.

The reason why plug-in hybrid cars are not much better than the environment has to do with the type of power they use. The electricity that hybrid cars run off of usually comes from coal-fired plants. Therefore, a plug-in hybrid car would only be a little bit better for the environment than a regular hybrid car.

Still, some people believe that this isn’t true. Plug-in hybrid cars are better for the environment than regular hybrid cars, they insist. This is because some people believe that hands down electric power is much cleaner than fuel power. People who insist plug-in hybrid cars are better for the environment also say that plug-in hybrid cars don’t really need a lot of electricity to power them. They recharge their own batteries. So they don’t have to be dependent on other sources of power. The electric sockets are used merely to top off those batteries.

These people point out that it’s also not that you must plug it in, but that you can plug it in, and that makes a huge difference. If you can plug it in, you don’t have to use electricity that comes from coal-fired plants.

But people who say that plug-in hybrids aren’t that good for the environment might say that sure, you don’t have to plug it in, but if you don’t, you are just depending on gasoline. Then, there’s no point of even having the debate about plug-in hybrid cars. And hey, if we are going to go back to using gasoline, how about we just scrap the idea of plug-in hybrid cars in general?

The point is this: These kinds of hybrid cars can be worthwhile to own, but don’t think these hybrid cars will be the answer to all of your problems. If you are a tree lover, maybe stick to finding out a way to decrease the use of aerosol sprays and cigarette smoke. But when it comes to hybrid cars. You might be doing about the same for the environment if you bought either a regular hybrid car or a plug-in hybrid car. But either way, you are doing better than you would be if you bought a conventional car.

Plug-in hybrid cars are great hybrid cars to own and they are easy to love, but you might not want to make your expectations too high or you may end up disappointed. But in any case, make no mistake; a plug-hybrid car will be one of the best hybrid cars to buy when it comes out.

One thing that stops Americans from purchasing hybrid cars is the lack of options out there for them. For instance, some people just like to ride in certain models of cars, and when those models are absent from the market, people start to get upset. What the automotive industry needs to do is make sure that every consumer need is satisfied when it comes to hybrid cars. What should it do to satisfy every potential customer’s need? Just take a look at what people are buying. And hey, why isn’t there a hybrid pickup?

Half of the entire US vehicle market is based on sales of SUVs and pickups. That whole market is comprised of 16 million vehicles. And since pickup vehicles use tons of gas per year, it would be a great idea for pickup hybrids to flood the market. These types of hybrid cars would save pickup drivers tons of money on gas. The savings would make a great case for the hybrid car industry. Alone, those dollars saved would get people curious about hybrid cars. If people saw just how much money hybrid pickup drivers saved on gas, they might be led to rush and get a hybrid for themselves. The dollars saved would provide the perfect visual for potential hybrid car buyers.

But the question still is, why isn’t there a hybrid pickup truck. Hybrid car drivers all over are waiting to hear the answer to that question.

Well, actually for a short time, a hybrid pick-up truck did in fact exist. Late in the year of 2004, there was a hybrid system on the Silverado and Sierra models. This system was introduced by general motors. However, this truck was not really the market. It was developed, but no one really knew where to buy it. Then in about the year 2006, GM dropped the hybrid pickups known as the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. And that’s the last the market heard of hybrid pickups. But these hybrid cars or hybrid pickups were let go for a number of good reasons, one being the hybrid pickups created an increase in the fuel economy.

But in the near future, more hybrid pickups will be introduced to the market. And that will be approximately a year from now. So hybrid car-lovers can get ready for these great utility vehicles. Hybrid cars are already selling fast. So with a new kind of hybrid car like the hybrid pickup, hybrid car sales will take off even more. And then, auto manufacturers would need to produce more hybrid cars. The end result would be that hybrid cars would multiply on the roads because everyone would be driving a hybrid car. And that would do wonders for the environment and the general economy.

So if you want a hybrid pickup, you may just have to wait until about 2008. And that should be fine. Just purchase a different kind of hybrid car while you wait. There are plenty of other hybrid cars available.

Volkswagen has dropped a new turbocharged engine under the bonnet of the Beetle that makes its style not the only reason to smile. But two doors and a turbo don’t make a sports car

Volkswagen may have been the talk of the town when it launched its new Beetle back in early 2000, but with growing numbers on Australian roads, the reincarnated people’s car is no longer the novelty it was.

So in order to reinvigorate sales and create renewed interest in the car, the German maker has added some dash to its panache, with the launch of the Beetle Turbo.

It was always on the cards that the nostalgia-inducing retro-mobile would gain a broader spread of powerplants and the ubiquitous 1.8-litre turbo engine was a likely frontrunner.

Those familiar with the VW Group, whose products wear the badges of Audi, Volkswagen, SEAT, the soon to be relaunched down under Skoda, Lamborghini, Bentley and Bugati, will know that a great part of the firm’s success is down to economies of scale.

And nothing achieves easier than sharing engines and platforms. For Australian motorists, the 1.8 turbo can be found driving the Audi A3, the VW Golf GTi and the larger Passat sedan while the Beetle shares its underpinning chassis with the Golf and A3.

The engine has been well and truly proven and it is no slouch in the Beetle. Officially, it produces 110 kiloWatts of power and 210Newton metres of torque and it is the latter figure that is most appealing.

According to VW, the maximum torque peaks at just 1750rpm but on the road, the engine feels strongest over 2000rpm. There is a hint of turbo-lag as you plant the accelerator but select the right gear from the slightly notchy five-speed and keep the revs between 2500 and 6000rpm and the engine will deliver.

VW claims a 0-100kmh time of 9 seconds and there is no denying that the forward urge is strong, but this is no sports car. The Golf GTi has been criticised for a chassis that doesn’t deliver on GTi expectations and translated into the Beetle, the same chassis has more difficulties to deal with.

Although it is reasonably competent and there is plenty of grip, it never actually inspires a sporty drive as there is the impression that you are not 100 percent in control.

Pushed into corners, the high-ish body of the Beetle starts to roll a bit, the steering feels as though it requires too many turns and there is not enough side support on the seats to stop you sliding across the standard leather trim. On the flip side, the ride comfort suffers a bit too, being a little harsh over larger bumps and potholes.

Inside, the three-door car is as impractical as its 2.0-litre sister with an easy-to-access but small rear seat and even smaller boot space. What the Turbo does get for its $40,000 launch price tag is a lot of standard kit including four airbags, ABS, ESP traction control, alloy wheels, aircon, CD player, cruise control, power windows and mirrors, remote central locking and the aforementioned leather.

The new Beetle has always been little more than a Golf-based retro-style statement that puts a smile on your face. With the addition of the turbo engine it is now a faster, more powerful retro-style statement that may just put a bigger smile on your face. It still benefits from solid German engineering and build quality, just don’t expect the turbo to turn it into a sports car.

This information will explain the differences of the four major Vision X off road lighting beam patterns.

The Euro (Medium Beam) is made to produce a very strong beam of light with wider coverage than the normal pattern. The Euro pattern can actually project its beam up to 1500 feet away, at a width of 250 feet! This pattern is designed to illuminate the side of the road, making it much easier to see pedestrians and street signs while driving. For this purpose, the Euro lenses are angled slightly up and right, with a 15 degree angle.

The Flood (Wide Beam) is a much wider pattern than the Euro or Spot but has a significantly shorter reach. The width of the Flood pattern stretches up to 80 feet while it’s reach extends up to 60 feet. The Flood pattern is very good for dispersing light and lighting up larger amounts of space with just one bulb. The flood beam is considered a wide angle pattern with a width as high as 80 feet and a reach of around 60 feet, with a 35 degree angle.

The Spot (Narrow Beam) is a very concentrated pattern that is very narrow yet very long. Coming in at up to 10 feet wide and a 1000 foot beam reach. This pattern produces more of an intense center spot to light up objects right in front of you, while sacrificing useable side light. The Spot beam has an angle of 10 degrees.

The Elliptical is a fairly wide pattern, very like the Euro style, except it is the only non round beam pattern. This rectangular wide pattern measures in at 45 degrees wide and 15 degrees in height.

So to recap, the Flood beam is wide but short reach, the Spot beam is narrow but long reach, the Euro beam is between the two, and the Elliptical beam is the only non round beam style out of the four

Hot of the market, this brand of hybrid car is on the tip of everyone’s tongue. Prius stands for prize in most people’s book when they think about hybrid cars. And that’s not just because a Toyota Prius looks pretty. In terms of hybrid cars, the Toyota Prius has tons to offer car consumers. And it’s not as if potential hybrid car buyers don’t know that. News of the Toyota Prius is everywhere in the media.

Why? Well first of all, the Toyota Prius is a great kind of hybrid car. The model I speak of is Toyota’s petrol and electric hybrid model. It’s sharp, stunning, and is a best seller among hybrid cars. This car is so good that it was voted car of the year in Europe for the year 2005. Furthermore, in the United States, the Toyota Prius got an award that was very comparable to the car of the year award given in Europe.

But the Toyota Prius hybrid car isn’t selling off the lots because it is the fastest car around. Some Toyota Prius‘s have some pretty high profile owners. Among them are Leonardo Dicaprio, Harrison Ford, and Susan Sarandon. With these people driving this particular hybrid car, off course it’s selling like a hotcake. And the stars are doing a world of good for the sales of hybrid cars in general.

But while the success of the Toyota Prius is good for Toyota, it isn’t so good for its competitors who have yet to manufacture a hybrid car. Now Nissan, GM and other popular car manufacturers are trying to quickly get their act together and come up with their version of the hybrid car.

Some of these other manufacturers just did not believe that people would put their faith in the hybrid car as a solution to the constant fluctuation of oil prices. But the number of sales for the Toyota Prius hybrid car has certainly caused a change of tune for competing car manufacturers. So soon you might here of a best-selling Nissan hybrid or GM hybrid. And Toyota Prius buyers shouldn’t get too comfortable with their car because before they know it, something else will come out that they would like to have.

But as far as Toyota goes, claims have been made that in the near future, all Toyota engines will come with hybrid options. And Toyota also believes that it’s only a matter of time before all cars are hybrid cars or at least have hybrid engine options.

Next year, Toyota should be making Prius’s in China, and there, sales are also expected to boom. Toyota doesn’t want to leave anyone behind. Soon it may expand its manufacturing plants to locations in places like California. Surely, there are plenty of movie stars there who can be persuaded to buy this hybrid car.

The Toyota Prius is certainly making a name for hybrid cars, and hopefully the buck won’t stop with the Prius. Toyota probably has some other models of hybrids cars that are fast making there way to having top sales as well.

Several people are wondering why there is still a need to attend a government surplus auction. They thought that the vehicles in these kinds of events are just junks and it is very foolish to purchase them. However, if you are going to learn more about it, you will realize that they are all misconceptions. Although it is true that they are no longer brand new, this does not mean that they are just junks, rejects, and damaged.

As a matter of fact, there are some items that are still brand new. To convince you, then you need to understand where the cars from a government surplus auction came from. Actually, they are just confiscated by the authorities because the previous owners failed to settle some of their financial obligations. Probably, they failed to pay their loans, mortgages, and other debts and these properties served as collateral.

And if you are going to attend a government surplus auction, you will even notice that there are several kinds of cars that you can choose from. If you are looking for a minivan, SUV, motorcycle, or even a truck, you can surely find it here. In fact, there is also a chance that you will encounter a luxury car such as a BMW, Jaguar, and a Benz.

However, this does not mean that you will no longer inspect the general condition of the vehicles. Although most of them are still in excellent condition, there is still a need for you to make sure that they can really still take you for miles. You have to check the motors, wheels, lights, and the general mechanism of the automobile.

And if you really want to save some cash, there is still a need for you to draft a budget. You might so want to set a price ceiling if you do not want to overbid. This is very important so that you can avoid going beyond your means.

However, there are some instances when these activities are not aggressively advertised. To know more about them, then you might just want to browse through your local papers. It is also possible that you just ask the organizers yourself.

If you want, you can also search through the internet. There are actually several sites that cater to these kinds of events especially a government surplus auction.

But above all, it is really necessary for you to prepare before you venture on anything. If you want to attend a government surplus auction, you still need to research more about it so that you will be really successful.

Just how much longer do we have to continue to deal with ever increasing gas prices? Just how are we supposed to weather this storm of outrageously rising gas prices? Is it time for a new car? If getting a different car seems to be the best option, how do I know what kind of car to get? Maybe we should all take a look at hybrid cars.

Hybrid cars are one of the hottest things going these days. Hot colors, sleek styles, and less time and money spent at the gas pumps – that’s what hybrid cars have to offer. Wow! Sounds great doesn’t it? How could you not want to run right out and get one today? Maybe we should find out a bit more about hybrid cars before we run out and purchase one. Hybrid cars are vehicles designed to run on electricity. A rechargeable energy storage system onboard the vehicle and a conventional propulsion system combine to give the vehicle better gas mileage than cars running on gasoline alone.

You don’t have to plug in a hybrid car to charge its battery. Hybrid cars use something called regernative braking to create kinetic energy and charge the battery while you drive. Regenerative braking is used on hybrid gas/electric automobiles to recoup some of the energy lost during stopping. This energy is saved in a storage battery and used later to power the motor whenever the car is in electric mode. Furthermore, some hybrid cars make use of their own combustion engine to create electricity. This is done by using a spinning electrical generator. The spinning does one of two things. It can either recharge the battery or in a more direct way, it can give power to an electric motor. This motor is what then drives the vehicle.

In simple words, hybrid cars utilize both electricity and gasoline energy to power the car. Firstly when your hybrid car is started and in idle mode or not running, the gasoline engine is automatically shut off. You car is then purely running on electricity. That explains the reason behind why hybrid cars are very quiet. This is also the reason why it can effectively conserve fuel consumption. Once you step on the accelerator, the internal combustion engine will automatically start up again.

There are also hybrid cars that can run purely on electric mode. This is very useful if you are only using the car for local travels. You virtually don’t even need to put gasoline in the car. Most hybrid cars developed today no longer need to be plugged in like the electric car. The used kinetic energy when you are braking will be the one to recharge the battery. This is how simple a hybrid car works. It will be comprised of a battery for energy storage, a generator, an internal combustion engine, a fuel tank, and an electric motor.

If you like what you’ve read about the hybrid car, maybe you should consider getting one. It’s hard to say how much longer the gas prices will continue to rise. If that’s the case, you have another reason to think about purchasing a hybrid car. Head on down to the local hybrid dealer and ease the pain a little bit. It’s a good investment and step towards the future.
