This is an induced draft system or also referred to as a negative pressure system which uses a fan drawing the air from the combustion chamber to the exhaust system.

They don’t make any smoke and they don’t produce any odors like some wood burning stoves do. Since the exterior is not made for radiating heat, they stay pretty cool to touch, except for the glass.
