Daniel asks…is it a law to have a fence around an inground swimming pool?My neighbor put in an inground swimming pool over a month ago, and has no fence around it. Anyone off the street can go right into it. I think it’a a huge saftey concern and possibly against the law. Am I correct? Thanks so much.Wize Guy answers:I’m sure it depends on local ordinances, but most places have a requirement that a locked fence be around the pool so little folk won’t fall in.Ruth asks…Inground Swimming Pool Accessories and Options?Hi, I’m researching having an inground swimming pool installed in my yard. I am curious what options and accessories I can get (and hopefully the general price of those). Such as the different pumps, vacuums, etc. And rocks, waterfalls, slides, etc? Different types of concrete? Lights? I want to hear it all! Where can I learn more please?Wize Guy answers:I think you need to decide what type (gunite, vinyl, fibreglass) of pool you’re putting in before you further explore your options. Whilst some equipment and accessories options are common to all types, not all are. The way you’re asking this question is far too broad to answer. I’m a pool guy, but this would take half a day in person to describe all the ways you can go. ![]()
Redefine your question a bit and I can help.
Edit: As usual, David D is at his site spamming again. It’s a pay per click site. He profits from it.Carol asks…what is better inground concrete swimming pools or fiberglass?Wize Guy answers:I have heard that fiberglass pools have 25 year warentee …but beware they only garentee them for manufacturing faults…for example if they sink in the ground on one end….or split….the warentee is void…and then they need complete replacement at cost to you….because it doesnt cover environmental conditions……its like putting a plastic icecream container into the ground and it is subject to all of the stresses of ground movement, water run off…and under. however if you put a concrete pool in, its warentee is much better becasue they have a structual report prior to the build and also….use high grade steel in the concrete….suitable to your soil conditions…and if worse comes to worse….and you get a crack, leak etc….they can have a liner installed…which they cant do with fiberglass.Susan asks…Concrete vs. Fiberglass inground swimming pools …?Which is better?Wize Guy answers:It really depends on where you live and what you can afford. Nothing is more beautiful than concrete tiled pool though…Lisa asks…Converting an inground Swimming Pool for some other purpose.?What is the easiest & cheapest way to convert or get rid of, an inground swimming pool as we don’t want it. Possibly a water storage tank, a garden or BBQ area. What would you recommend?
