Why does wax leave swirl marks in automotive paint?
What causes wax to create swirl marks on paint and what will remove them?

Wize Guy answers:
Wax soft paint is harder. What are you wiping the car with. What is your car wash using to wipe the paint? Most likely culprit is your rags wax applicators and terry cloth towels and car wash brushes. Machine orbital buffers won’t swirl mark as much as rotary buffers. Always washing machine your towels applicators and buffer pads between uses. Many years of show car experence. Under artificial light really shows how well you prepaired the finish, polishing to accept the wax coat.
