One of better ways to reduce your heating bill is to find energy efficient heater and install it in your home, garage or office. According to US Government statistics, the average American spends $1,900 per year for home energy, nearly half goes to heating and cooling. Oil radiator is a good way to reduce this big expenditure. And here are few tips to help you use your heater to the maximum.

You have to be prepared to turn down the heating and use a heater to heat  specific rooms only. And if yo do not do this, you will only have to pay more for your heating bills. It is a practice that is successful if there is only one person in the home that needs more warmth or a family usually uses one room when they are together at home.

There are plenty of choices here. For this discussion, we are interested in portability and the only portable units are electric. For example, portable baseboard heater. These type of heaters are using electricity for heating, either by convection heat methods or by radiant heat.

Radiant heaters usually look reminiscent of the old fashioned steam radiators. They are usually cooler to the touch but will heat an individual or nearby object rather quickly. But you should not use these type of heaters to heat up the entire room in your home. It will take some time for them to heat an entire room. Since convection heaters use wire or ribbon heating elements, they are a much better option when it comes to heating the entire room.

In either case, make sure you purchase something that is safe. A UL listing is what you should take a look at. Convection heater has wire elements that can get quite hot, so a radiant heater is a much better solution when it comes to safety. You should also find a model that has a automatic temperature adjustment, which will save you energy by keeping the room at the same temperature all the time.
