I NEED HELP CAN ANYONE ANSWER THIS QUESTION?
Now i know this might not be the right section but i couldnt find any closer then this one. Ok so its about heavy equipment that is used for construction, digging etc. Identify the reason for positioning the excavator with the propel motors to the rear when working close to an excavation??? Please help ive looked everywhere in the internet i can find and no luck yet

Wize Guy answers:
Not 100% sure but I would think that it uses its own motor for a counterweight to help you not tip over into the hole you are digging.

James asks…
Is there a proper name/title for the girls who “model” cars, electronics, etc.?
At car expos and electronics shows, products are often displayed using attractive women in skimpy outfits to draw attention. I’ve seen them posing with something as large as a piece of Hyundai heavy construction equipment, down to miniature digital cameras.
Do these girls/women have a “proper” name for their type of employment, or are they simply unnamed eye-candy?

A private construction firm is being sued for its implementation of a drug testing procedure for applicants. Which of the following would justify the firm’s adoption of the procedure?
A) The procedure would include only one test for the use of illegal controlled substances without a second test to detect false positive test results.
B) The applicants who would be tested would operate heavy construction equipment.
C) Studies show that recreational drug use has no negative effect on safety ratings of construction firms.
D) The testing would cover clerical employees who do not come into any contact with heavy equipment.

Wize Guy answers:
B.

Carol asks…
How easy/hard is it to operate excavators?
There’s a huge construction site (buildings being torn down) that I drive by on my way to work, and it’s full of various heavy equipment. I’m fascinated by the excavators, because they remind me of giant, toothy “mouths” on the end of long arms. It’s also interesting to see how precisely they can chomp, lift and/or move things with their “jaws”. (I know, they’re actually called buckets, heads and/or attachments, but I like the metaphor of mouths and jaws. *grin*)
I was just curious how easy or difficult excavators are to operate? I’m guessing they’re more challenging than some pieces of construction equipment. Hopefully at least some folks here have experience using them. Thanks and have a great weekend! ![]()
P.S. I’m not interested in operating one myself.
I never even mastered driving a stick-shift car, if that tells you anything about my mechanical coordination! LOL! I’m just curious what it’s like to operate excavators.

Wize Guy answers:
You can learn the macro-maneuvers rather quickly with a few days of practice. That is, you can dig a trench, clear out and move dirt from a large area. You master the controls and then you get an understanding of where the machine ought to be in relationship to the work. That’s for the purpose of leverage and operator safety.
The micro-maneuvers require a deft touch. There are operators who routinely can pick up a branch and stack it on a pile of other brnaches. This skill take quite a while to develop and there are operators who never quite master it. That is essential when there are laborers on the site who could be in danger of getting hurt with a small mistake on the operator’s part.
Using the “thumb” — a separate lever opposite the bucket can be tricky as well. But unless you master that, you would not be able to use the excavator to tear down structures very well.

Mandy asks…
Does the Escondido Mellow still exist? It was used in the 70s for skin cancer treatment.?
When I was young and living near Escondido, Ca, a mellon was grown there that worked very well in the treatment of skin cancer on my stepfather. It couldn’t be eaten as it was poisonous, but on the skin cleared up the cancer quickly. He was a heavy equipment for construction of homes in Rancho Bernardo, so he was in the sun a lot.
The treatment worked well, but after he retired and moved to northern California, he didn’t need it for several years. Now at age 80, it has returned with a vengeance. I cannot find any reference to the Escondido Mellon on the Internet.

Wize Guy answers:
I doubt a variety of honeydew melon is going to cure cancer, but they are good for you. They aren’t poisonous though.
Description: vigorous plant, huge shade leaves, smooth yellow skin, sweet soft flesh is aromatic and juicy, good down to the rind, can weigh up to 18 lbs., good flavor despite wet growing conditions, with extreme care can handle northern growing areas.
