Maria asks…
medical supply co in settle washington?
information and addresses about places that carries medical home care supplies and equipment? In the state of Settle,Washington

Wize Guy answers:
No matter what you are searching for, one of the best ways I have discovered to do it is to go to http://www.yellowpages.com
You’ll find two boxes, Find and Location.
Type Medical Supplies in the Find box and Seattle, WA in the Location box (be sure to spell it correctly.)
Click on Find and you’ll see there are 547 businesses in Seattle that sell medical supplies.
By the way, I just did that, and I’m in Chicago…

Thomas asks…
conflict of interest as a registered nurse in opening a medical equipment supply company?
sell equipment to my home care customers; would that be allowed? pass out flyers to nursing homes, doctor offices, etc.?

Wize Guy answers:
Check with your state board of nursing. They will be able to tell you. Most state boards now have on online site where you can email them…that would be the best way to go. Get the info straight from the source.

Paul asks…
I am a home health nurse working for an agency. They take out no taxes, etc. Is this legal?
I use their computer in the field and they supply medical equipment

Wize Guy answers:
Check with the company, but they most likely consider you an independent contractor, which means you will get a 1099 at the end of the year. If they consider you and IC, you should be paying estimated taxes on a quarterly basis. This also means they are probably not taking out Social Security taxes, so unless you pay them also, you are not getting service credit for the time you are working.
