Chris asks…

How we will differentiate if an abuse is a community guideline violation or a TOS Violation?

I have to report an abuse but I am not able to differentiate which type of abuse it is a community guideline violation or a TOS violation
I have to epost an abuse in the answers website but i am not able to decide what type of violation it is — community guideline violation or TOS violation as I have read both Comunity guideline and TOS of yahoo! Answers but I found no difference in both the documents

Wize Guy answers:

I assume you’re referring to a web based community.

It could be either or both, depending on the community’s terms of service and the webhost’s terms of service.

Mark asks…

How do I report a group moderator for a TOS violation?

I just dropped out of a Yahoo group for a variety of reasons and the moderator of THAT group is threatening to have my group closed for false reasons. How can I report what she’s doing as a TOS violation to Yahoo?

Wize Guy answers:

People make those threats all the time. Unless your group has actual TOS violations in it (like adult content when it’s not in the adult category, copy right laws) you have nothing to worry about. If that person does report you, and you have no TOS violations going on, don’t worry about it. Yahoo wont just delete a group over these complaints, they actually investigate the report.

If you really need to send the abuse form, here it is, but don’t expect Yahoo to do much. These threats and squables go on all the time.

I’d just ignore the persons e-mails, just delete them or block them.

Robert asks…

How do I find out what TOS violation was committed?

I received a notice from Yahoo that I may have violated the TOS – what was it – please explain

Wize Guy answers:

Did you know that if you claim to be a horse on YA, that is a TOS violation. Also, posting that you are under thirteen is a TOS violation.

TOS violations are the most serious and they will zap you quick. Most people who get zapped for things other than vile, racist things do one of the following:

1. Post links or ask for links to copyrighted material, usually ringtones, music, or movies. Giving someone a link to a youtube video of your favorite band is illegal in many cases.

2. Posting or asking for sites for free but pirated software, giving keys to software, or similar illegal activities.

3. Asking for people to give them accounts to sites or asking people if you can use their info and account. That is illegal in most cases.

4. Putting up codes or asking for codes for things like Coke Rewards. That is illegal in most cases.

5. Posting your website that may have business sections or sells anything. That is solicitation.

6. Posting links to scams, get rich quick schemes, work at home scams, or spam

Steven asks…

I received an email from yahoo saying i violated the TOS. How can I find out what I did wrong?

I went and read the TOS but I still dont have any clue what I did wrong? Ive had my acct for 6 years now and never had this happen. Any suggestions how to find out what I did wrong or is someone just playing a mean joke?

Wize Guy answers:

It should give the reason, most of the time it will have your question or answer in the notice. If not, there is a link to click to appeal it if you feel it was wrong. Most of the time they make the violation stick, try to appeal again. They have been deducting 10 points just for appealing. So it’s up to you.

Wize Guy answers:

There’s this “Style Council” thing on Youtube. From the Cure Japanese Rock Collection DVD.

It might be a little long, but just wait for the hair.
