Paul asks…
How long will it take to get my birth certificate from California Department Health?
I sent for my Birth Certificate to California Department of Health Services Office of Vital Records on December 11. How long will it take to get my birth certificate? I need my birth certificate to get my passport. And why does it take them 6 weeks to send?

Wize Guy answers:
With Homeland Insecurity running rampant, everything is screwed.
As of next year you will need a national Identity document and a passport just to cross the border into like Tijuana for a day.
I could fill a page with horror stories dealing with this nonsense, but I would probably start cursing just thinking about it and my landlady would evict me.
There is no longer a set answer as to how long it takes.
I would say find their 1-800 number and keep on their case until they answer, but with so many people being left in the lurch, you would probably spend hours on hold before getting to talk to a human.
Good luck.

Steven asks…
Can US permanent resident work for federal, state, or local government such as health department, etc.?
For government jobs, I mean work for major department (environmental pretection department, health department, etc. Not including post office jobs). I found that most of federal jobs need US citizenship, but not sure if state and local government jobs require the same.

Wize Guy answers:
I dought it if you aint got US citzenship goverment is getting tons of flack about immigration right now………why dont you go to your country and work

Sharon asks…
Does the state health department work at the national or state level?
I know this is a stupid question, but just because something is at the level of a state department it doesn’t always mean they work for the state. So does the state health department work to protect health at the national, or state level?

Wize Guy answers:
They work for the state, but are also aware of federal level laws. There are many differences between states in their laws. The fed’s do delegate some responsibilites to the state to enforce. (former US FED/DC)

Jenny asks…
When does the health department come to your home to notify you?
Someone from the county health department showed up today to notify a resident of a communicable illness…What could this be?

Wize Guy answers:
Weird….
I have never heard of that before and I’d be warry of it. Can you call your local Town Hall and ask what that was about? They will know if anyone was dispatched to warn residents.
H1N1 is the flu, it probably wasn’t for that as its not that serious
Hepatitis is not that communicable, other than by the transfer of fluids… My Dad has had Hep C for as long as I can remember and I don’t… so its not Hepatitis…
No idea what it is, but if they notified one resident they should have notified all residents if it was legit.

Maria asks…
How does the health department do pregnancy tests?
I have had a negative pregnancy test, but have still missed a period and have all signs of pregnancy. I am considering going to the health department. Will they do a blood test or a regular urine test?

Wize Guy answers:
where i live they only do the urine test and charge 15.00 dollars. I would just use the ones u can buy at the store on ur own and its alot cheaper But call to make sure becuz it could be different where you live.
