Joseph asks…

What Do You Think Of Triumph Motorcycles?

What do you think of Triumph motorcycles? In particular the Bonneville or Scrambler?
Edit: I’m not accustomed to any motorcycles as I’m looking for a first and Triumph caught my eye.

Wize Guy answers:

I was looking at them at the Dealer last year. REALLY nice. The Bonneville or the American are just about the only bikes that could lure me away from my Thumper.

Richard asks…

What is the quality and cost of maintainence for Triumph motorcycles?

I’m looking at a Triumph Street Triple vs a Z1000, and might think about other bikes as well.

Having a “different” brand is cool, except when it breaks and no one can fix it for a price you can afford.

Wize Guy answers:

If you have never owned a Triumph, then now you should!

They are superbly reliable.
All consumables (oils, plugs, filters) cost same as Jap bikes.
Chains and sprockets same, tyres etc.
It’s difficult to compare major costs as Triumph and others dont seem to need anything these days!

I’ve riden a Sprint and 2 Tigers in the last decade.
In over 100k I’ve never had a fault.
Service them, like all machines, and they’ll look after you………. :-)

Also, as the engine is so torquey, it doesnt knacker the chain so quickly!
A nice even spread of power rather than nasty surges!

If you aint had one yet, give it a go.
British quality.

James asks…

so where are all the REAL triumph motorcycles?

I see these new ones and Im glad to see them but dam where are the all real ones hiding? Ya know T110 and t120 tiger and bonneville parrelel twins! Every now and then I see an old triumph chopper but I never see a stock original bike anymore. If ya got one send me a pic!

Wize Guy answers:

Head North young man.We have a large British motorcycle community here in Canada

Ken asks…

Does anyone know a lot about Triumph motorcycles?

I just got a Triumph Legend 900 and on the windshield there is a sticker with a rat on it, and the letters R A T. What does that mean? And, does anyone know about the Triumph legend? I had never heard of it until someone traded it in at a local dealership. Can you tell me about it ? And what is a Legend TT? My bike doesn’t say TT on it anywhere. Is there a difference? Thanks for the help!!!!

Wize Guy answers:

RAT is Triumph Riders Association,,,,,
like H.O.G. is to Harley if you’re familiar with that.

Here’s a ’99

http://www.hermys.com/triumph/legend/1999/

I ‘spose ’98 was 1st year of the Legend

I dont know much about them ,cuz i dont fool with bikes much anymore.

There’s bound to be a bunch of “Groups/Clubs” who know every intimate detail,,all the tips & tricks,,etc, etc

Triumphs have been Cult Classics,,,’bout as long as they’ve been motorcycles,,,,so there’s always somebody who knows “Everything” there is to know about them.

The Hinkley machines,,I just dunno squat .

Donald asks…

How much are Triumph Motorcycles generally?

and which ones are good for beginners? Either an Urban Sports or Modern Classic bike is the kind i’m looking for.

Wize Guy answers:

I agree with irk some. I ride an 08 Bonneville. It’s a great bike, not too fast and not too slow. It gets 40+ mpg, handles well. I take my gf for a ride when I can and she’s comfortable on it. I like the way the the pilot and rider sit on the same level. I think the Bonneville would be a good bike for you to start on. But please take a riders course if you are just starting out. I paid $8000 cash for my Bonny. I don’t think I could have gotten a better bike for my style and personality I’ve had it for 8 months and have logged almost 6000 miles on it with no problems. Triumphs are the unsung hero’s of motorcycles. They have a style and image all their own. Good luck
