Donna asks…

What kind of paint do they usually use to do portrait when it comes to airbrush??

I really need your help to which kind of paint to use. The automotive solvent paint or a waterbase paint. Coz i started airbrushing for the last 8months, and i usually do graphics effect, cartoon and i use dupont automotive paints. But i,m looking forward in trying out something realistic like portrait . So if anybody out there could give some tips, that would be great. Thanks.

Wize Guy answers:

When painting portraits I prefer E’tac EFX500. It’s a re-wettable water based paint which allows you to use numerous techniques such as erasing and scratching.

Paint a test area on a unseen area, or on something else.

Nancy asks…

DuPont Price Per Gallon of Paint and Clearcoat?

Hii
any automotive paint job experts, how much would DuPont sell a gallon of a Mercedes Benz S600 – Silver Iridium for ??
Also the price per gallon of their finest and bestest clearcoating??

Wize Guy answers:

When you talk car paint, you can talk about gallons of paint, or sprayable gallons.

You’ll be adding an activator (hardener) to the paint, as well as a reducer.

Figure about $275 for a gallon of paint, with the reducer and activator, which will make 1.5 – 1.75 sprayable gallons depending on mix ratio (they vary by manufacturer).

Clear should be a bit less, but around the same price.

Charles asks…

Wize Guy answers:

It’s called 99A. That’s the Dupont code for their black acrylic enamel. It is used without a clear coat and produces the blackest black possible.
