How can I find a good air duct cleaning service?

Just bought an older house. When we turn on the whole house fan, even with lots of windows open, some air is still drawn through our vents. This causes severe alergy attacks for my wife. The previous owners never had the furnace serviced, weren’t the cleanest people, and had several cats. I can only imagine how nast all of the air ducts are. I cleaned out a couple of the reurn ducts and they were nasty with dust and construction debris. I want to have the system cleaned out well. I’ve gotten several quotes that vary pretty greatly in cost $179-$450. We have a small home with a finished basement that also has heating ducts. I want to choose a service that will do a great job, but have heard that some do a much better job than others. How do I know what to look for, or ask for in a good air duct cleaning service?

Ask for refernces from each company; Call the Better Business Bureau and find out which one has claims of bad business practices.
Put an ad in the paper asking anyone with problems of any service to please contact you. .
For a small house; $450 sounds awfully high.
If you hire one; stay with them and watch to see they are really doing the job.

air duct cleaning,anybody out there tried Sears services for air duct cleaning?

i have been searching for air duct cleaning providers and have come across sears carpet & air duct cleaning company,does anyone have tried out there services if so please comment and if not any suggestions for other air duct cleaning companies that are offering reasonable prices and quality work?thanks a lot!

Just used them yesterday. I live in Staten Island and the total cost was 441.00. Two guys came and took off all the vents covers and returns, wiped them clean with a cleaner and clean the air ducts using the agitator and vacuum. I have a small townhouse and it took them less than 2 hrs. They also did my dryer vent. A lot of stuff came out, seems like the previous owners never did anything.

Save your money. Cleaning ductwork is ANOTHER rip off. Just keep your furnace filters replaced when necessary.

Is there anyone out there who has had their air ducts cleaned by a professional service? If so was it worth the money and what is the cost average?

the price is based on how many hot &cold regesters you have
i live in northern ohio ,have mine done every 5-6 year’s it is defenyley worth it i would call around for price’s i think i paid 2.50 or 3.00 per. regester

Air ducts cleaning could be hiding mold growth, rodent infestation, and dust/ debris, which are all hazardous to you and your family’s health..Dust is the main problem for all diseases so we need more care about it…This cleaning will remove all the dust so that we can inhale good air around us…It is really useful for us so we can suggest this and there is some site which gives the information about it…
