where can i find free construction estimating software?
i have recently changed my life. about a year ago i went to drug and alc. rehab. i have a background in construction but i need to learn an estimating program in order to get an office job. six months in rehab has left me unable to find a job to utilize my degree in construction. i’m now a christian and don’t want to “steal” the software but i am absolutely broke. can anyone help?

look for a company called Hard Dollar in Tempe Arizona. The software is far from cheap but they might give you a trial time.

Which software are the most used by constructors in the U.S. for construction estimates, budgets, control, program, etc?. I mean, a software similar to Neodata or Opus but used in America?. Many Thanks

I’ve used ICARUS before. It has the advantage of personalizing the going tax rate and local rates for a given plant or division. It did a really good job of quickly estimating the costs for my projects.

I DID find a reasonable one on e-Bay – not free, of course. But one fella had put some time and effort into creating one that can be tailored to your area’s current material prices.
You can now also find them for many specialties such as drywall, excavating, electrical, concrete, roofing, etc.
If you use QuickBooks, as I do, for my contracting work, they have partnered with other companies that create estimate and bid programs that work integrally with QuickBooks – the estimate/bids load into QuickBooks and become orders and invoices.
