“Imagine walking on streets of gold and feasting upon fruits of unimaginable flavor. Imagine running on beach sands with fine specks beyond any other that you have ever been to. Imagine unequalled tranquility surpassing all other past memoirs, if there is any. If this should be my home, if heaven should be it, I will not last long here, rather, I will stay within its confines forever.
One of mans most expressed dreams of all time is owning a home. There is almost no greater dream than this. Career goals may be part of one mans dream, but attached to a successful career is always the bottom-line, that is having a nice and comfortable abode to end the busy day at and rest. This defines most of a persons life. Parents send their children to good schools to make good students; good students to be honorable graduates; graduates to become skilled professionals; good professionals to have good careers—and the bottom-line of this all is for one to be good providers to their own children. At this point, one of the greatest provisions parents can give to their children is a home that has it all for their children: comfortable atmosphere, healthy environment, secure and conveniently located. Its like bringing heaven to earth!
Lets take a look at what most Americans have to say about building homes.
1. Because of the old-fashioned wisdom comparing renting and buying a house: “that monthly rent disappears from your wallet, whereas a monthly mortgage payment contributes to an investment,” there are more homes built in the US than 10 years ago. Personally, I thought this was quite a good way of investing. There is more than meets the eye though. Whoever said, “This is just the tip of the iceberg.” It really is. There are other essential things that you cannot take for granted. There are things that rent payment can afford that mortgage payments cant, like just walking away and debt-free when the job that pays the mortgage turns sour or when there is an illness that may no longer yield you the same financial benefits. In renting, no bank runs after you and the risk of having a demolished credit is kept at a minimum.
2. President George W. Bush repeatedly emphasized his desire for Americans to purchase homes, “We can put light where there’s darkness, and hope where there’s despondency in this country. And part of it is working together as a nation to motivated folks to own their own home,” said he in 2002.
3. Peer Pressure- It doesn’t only work for teenagers but for stockbrokers and real estate executives as well. Looking out of your rented window one day with that prior news that the next-cubicle-executive finally purchased a Victorian townhouse somewhere down the suburb makes you want to run to the bank get a mortgage for yourself. The rationalization that you and your family deserve it so badly sets your adrenaline rushing. A month is too long, you will have a house built just across the neighborhood.
When you try to look around, you will see that homes are spawning as fast as salmons do in cold streams up somewhere. But before getting drawn too much, always think twice and weigh your options so that the bliss of living of a suburban home remains and not turn into a nightmare.
