Magnetic therapy is a form of alternative therapy that, as the name suggests, makes use of magnets of different sizes and various strengths. The magnets are placed on select areas on the body to relieve pain and discomfort and to treat various health problems. These are not common magnets that you would use on the kitchen fridge, but stronger magnets used for medical purposes.

Magnets are capable of producing their own energy fields. Some magnets are composed of greater strengths than are others. Practitioners believe that the magnets when placed outside of the human body can find their way into the cells and organs, and from there can correct problems and encourage the organs, cells and other body systems to get back to normal.

At present there isn’t a lot of scientific evidence to support the use of magnetic therapy for the purposes of healing. However, proponents of the therapy believe that it works because the tissues and cells in the body have electromagnetic impulses that work in conjunction with the magnets to encourage the body to heal.

Those who practice magnetic therapy and believe in its effectiveness claim that this form of natural treatment can bring relief to those who suffer from arthritis and headaches (migraines and other types of headaches), and can also improve blood circulation and reverse many different kinds of degenerative diseases. Some even espouse the virtues of the therapy when it comes to healing broken bones, although there is no scientific evidence for this.

It is possible to find a practitioner in this field who will provide magnetic therapy treatments and use strong medical magnets. However magnetic therapy is also something a person can do for themselves. There is plenty of magnetic jewelry on the market which is most often in the form of bracelets, necklaces and rings. If worn close to the source of pain, they are believed to bring relief. There are also magnetic pillows and blankets that can be purchased to promote a restful night’s sleep and to further reduce pain.

Does magnetic therapy work? This all depends on who you ask. Some people are skeptics while others swear by the treatment. Many people claim that their joints and muscles hurt less thanks to the use of magnets. Commercially available magnetic therapy products aren’t expensive, and they’re completely safe, so it could be worth your while to see if they work for you.

A popular way to try out magnetic therapy is through the use of magnetic therapy bracelets. Wearing a magnetic hematite bracelet, for instance, is believed to bring relief from a variety of conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome and arthritis.
