Nothing looks as attractive as a nice, white smile. Perfectly even, no cavities, good breath. Some people seem to do all the right things when it comes to caring for their teeth. They certainly aren’t born with them. They have obviously taken great care to ensure that they maintain that smile their whole life. These people have brushed, flossed, and scheduled regular dental appointments. Something that we should all do.

Bacteria and plaque build up on the teeth, and it takes a lot of regular care to keep your mouth germ free. Regular brushing and flossing is a daily necessity for good oral care. It helps your teeth stay healthy, and it also prevents cavities from occurring. You should be brushing after every meal, or at least twice a day, morning and night. Flossing is important because it gets the food particles that are trapped between the teeth that regular brushing can’t get. Take care when using dental floss because some of your teeth will be very close together and it may be a little difficult to get in there without hurting your gums.

Oh yes, flossing! Number two on your mouth care list. That wonderful little piece of waxed string that slides between the teeth and gets the food out that is left behind after brushing. Second most important part of the tooth care regime. Don’t forget to floss every day to keep your gums healthy. Regular brushing and flossing will prevent things like periodontal disease and gingivitis, which can lead to cavities, premature tooth loss, and bad breath.

Make sure you have your teeth professionally cleaned at the dentist’s office at least two times a year. The plaque that you can’t remove will be scraped off, and your mouth will be in better shape because of it. Your dentist will check to see if you have any cavities brewing, and will take care of them before they can do any damage to the tooth. Good mouth care is very important if you want to keep your own teeth in good shape for many years.

Make sure you visit the dentist at least twice a year to keep your mouth and teeth in good shape. The dental hygienist will scrape the plaque off your teeth that you can’t get no matter how well you brush and floss. Yes, I know, not everyone is fond of going to the dentist. If you avoid this visit, you are asking for trouble somewhere down the line, and it will not be pleasant, believe me. better to be safe than sorry! So, gather your courage and march into that office, and by doing so, you will have your own teeth for a very long time. Better in your mouth than in a cup by your bedside.

So, the most important factors of good mouth care are to remember to brush, floss, and keep your tongue clean. Following up your routine by rinsing with an antiseptic mouthwash is another good idea. This also helps to combat any bacteria in your mouth. Ask anyone who has lost their teeth what they would do over if they had the chance, and they will tell you that they would have cared for their teeth properly.
