You might well wonder why people would be so desperate to seek sciatica treatment. Imagine this little scenario then – you’re walking down your stairs when your left leg buckles without warning and is suddenly unable to support you. Off balance, you stumble but are lucky enough to catch the barrister and keep yourself from falling. You feel a sharp pain coming from your spine and going all the way down your leg. It’s enough to make the leg go numb, rendering you unable to move. Wouldn’t you seek sciatica treatments of this happened to you?
The sciatic nerves can cause extreme acute pain simply because they’re the biggest nerve group in the body, ranging from the spine’s base to the tip of your toes. Any bit of constricting pressure can trigger excruciating pain. On a scale of 1 – 10, sufferers usually can take pain up to about 7, with 1 meaning a mild tingle and a 9 to 10 debilitating pain. Any injury to the back or abnormal pressure can trigger an attack, sometimes with no warning at all.
It is very important to get a physical with the doctor to determine the cause of pain as the right type of treatment can relieve the symptoms almost immediately and keep pain at bay. If there is no treatment, however, or the sciatica treatments applied are the wrong ones (as what can happen with self-diagnosis), the nerve can be permanently damaged and the calf muscle may deteriorate over time. Bladder and inexplicable tingling and numbness in the area may occur as well.
Old-school sciatica treatments involved painkillers, prolonged bed rest to promote immobility, surgery, and little else. Unfortunately, these all showed few signs of success, the modern take on sciatica treatments involves the application of bulging disc treatments with a better rate of success.
The sciatica treatments being practiced over the past few years have seen more and more concerned physicians looking at alternatives over conventional practices. Bed rest is discouraged and mild exercise is recommended. Hot compresses relax the muscles over the 48-hour duration. Anti-inflammatory painkillers and steroid injections are prescribed although the relief is just temporary. Coupled with lifestyle changes like changes in work habits, stress management, posture correction, physical therapy, hypnotherapy, and acupuncture, this program yields a lot of relief over its 3 month period.
But if there is little or no recovery after all this, there is still the final card for sciatica treatment being held by the doctor. Surgery is the final option here. However, it’s only in extreme cases these days that surgery is practiced. At this time, it’s only reserved for people that suffer a loss of memory or bladder or bowel control loss. These symptoms show that what the patient has is a severe case, although they are not common at all. But then once again, surgery is not very common for sciatica treatment.

what are is the % of the surgery being a complete succses
I would be hard pressed to go against the advice of a doctor. However, foraminal stenosis, osteophytes and osteoarthritis can all cause pain…don't know why this specific doctor told you otherwise. It may likely be that their placement doesn't fit the location of your pain. In addition, chronic pain can cause changes in your mood. It would be interesting to know if you are taking any type of anti-depressant. Finally, having surgery to correct the Chiari is a major undertaking. I would encourage you to keep searching for the right neurologist / neurosurgeon who can offer you an explanation and appropriate treatment for your complaints. Good luck!

Perhaps your doctor thinks that is you are more relaxed than the spasms that are causing your pain will be relieved.
TRY IT AND see if it works.ANYTHING IS WORTH TRYING.
Most drugstores sell a heating pad that has a think foam rubber insert that goes in between the pad and the pad cover. You dampen the foam pad, not soak it, and place it over the heating pad.

I can't tell you what a foraminal stenosis is but I can tell you that a stenosis is a narrowing of an area where something goes through. Now I know when I had my spinal surgeries that I had stenosis of the nerve root. I don't know if the foraminal stenosis causes pain but I would think that any narrowing would. Mild DDD is the mid grade of the disease and does cause pain. the mass if it is not interrupting the epidural space or putting pressure on a disc or nerves I doubt it would cause any issues unless it had spurs that may disrupt the subcantious tissues. Osteoarthritis can cause pain. I would get the opinion of another neurosurgeon or neurologist. I have dealt with chronic pain for over 7 years now and have had several spinal surgeries and that is what i base my opinions on fore I am not a health care provider. Good Luck
where is the letter?
: Bulging Disc Treatment
i do. i had a weird symptom, tho. i was having deep, sharp abdominal pains that I couldn't get diagnosed as anything until a surgeon recommended I get an MRI and I found out it was a herniated disc. I went to a chiropractor for about 3 monoths (which never really helped all that much) but once I started working out again, the pain subsided as I got stronger.
My advice? See a physical therapist because they will be able to strengthen your abs and back to a point where you will overcome the injury. And supposedly, all nerve damage should heal (if it's going to) within 6 months, so after that, you will know if the pain is going to stay with you or not.
You should consider a chronic pain management clinic. THey specialize in pain management for people who do not respond to typical therapy. Although you may have no relief from the Percocet or vicodin, keep in mind they have tylenol in them and you are doing massive damage to your liver by taking the number you related. Seek options that do not involve liver failure. Try yellow pages or google for chronic pain management clinics in your area. Best of luck!
