The U.S. alone is spending tens of billions of dollars on dietary supplements. It seems as though people are desperate to find a quick fix to the obesity epidemic.
But you have to be really careful with what supplements you take because it’s a huge gray area.
So here is a guide to supplements for women:
1. Flintstone pills: More is not better here. If you are going to take a multivitamin, make sure it has no more than one hundred percent daily value for any single nutrient. You see, if you overdose on nutrients you can reach toxic levels and you can also block the absorption of other nutrients.
2. High dose antioxidants: Antioxidants taken in pill form have not shown the ability to decrease rates of disease. In fact, research is showing that a lot of these different formulations actually decrease health and increase mortality.
3. Calcium: Calcium is vitally important for women, especially when menopause hits. You see, estrogen has a bone protective effect. And once estrogen decreases, rates of fracture increase in women. Now the problem here is that taking calcium in concentrated forms increases risk for stones.
4. The sun vitamin: A little time in the sun is a great way to activate vitamin D. But too much time puts you at risk for cancer, not good. And many people within the medical community are considering vitamin D to be a hormone because it is so powerful. This is one of the few cases where supplementation make sense.
5. Whey protein: Combined with a little glucose, whey protein makes for a great post workout meal. The problem here is that most natural whey protein on the market is loaded with artificial sweeteners. So make sure you choose a brand with no fillers.
6. Energizers: There are lots of energy drinks on the market, but the main ingredient is always caffeine. Now caffeine does have valid applications when it comes to increasing work output. However, when taken to extremes it does more harm than good.

I'm from California & I'm not sure about your question, but I'll say some stuff I know. Half of my relatives are in Canada & although I'm poor, several of my Canadian Uncles, Cousins, etc., are doing quite well financially. Every one of them LOVE the health care in Canada & look with disgust at the USA. Health care in America is much more expensive & less available because it is a FOR PROFIT industry. Drugs are extremely overpriced & the insurance companies care about your health as much as they care about the stuff they just expelled into their toilets. They will DENY you coverage on anything. All they need to do is find an excuse to drop you, that is, when you make a claim. They've got the most educated lawyers who do nothing but try to save the Insurance companies money. We are the most backward "First World" country on this planet morally in regards to caring about it's own citizens. Here is a site to look into. & there are many more on the internet. If you're mostly concerned about Canada's situation, keep looking on the web. I'm sure you'll find something. And remember, insurance companies are only concerned with profit!

Yup that is right! There are few choices though when it comes to finding such quality whey protein, I know Protein Factory makes Bio-whey and then there is the very expensive Jay Robb “organic” whey from grass fed cows.
